How do I write a good brief?Getting started
Name the object, its material and how it is made: “cast iron bench vise, flat jaws”. One object per run. Stacking adjectives (“beautiful, detailed, cinematic”) adds no geometry — the fine pass does. If there is something you do not want, put it in the avoid list rather than in the brief.
How long does a run take?Getting started
From our own benchmarks: text to model on the draft pass finished in 3 minutes 18 seconds, and photo to model in about 200 seconds. The fine pass takes longer. Those numbers come from the provider, so they move when its queue is busy — the status page shows the median finish time we actually measure, rather than a promise.
What is a unit?Getting started
One unit is one cent of provider cost. Every step in the price list is derived from the provider's own rate card, so a draft text run that costs us $0.10 is 10 units. The price list carries the whole table, add-ons for PBR and quad topology included.
Do my units expire?Units & billing
Yes. Plan units reset to the full allowance on your renewal date, and anything unspent does not carry over. The reset is recorded as its own ledger line, so you can see exactly when and how much. There are no top-up units to buy yet.
My run failed — do I get the units back?Units & billing
Yes, in full, automatically, without you asking. The same applies to a run you cancel part-way. The refund appears as its own ledger line, named after the run.
How do I pay?Units & billing
Nowhere yet. This deployment is not connected to any payment processor — no real cards, QRIS, virtual accounts or invoices. What may be switched on is a simulator: the payment flow is complete, the units really do land in your balance, and no money moves. When that is the state, every trace of it says so — a banner on the checkout, the word SIMULATED in your ledger line, and in the receipt's subject. If payments are switched off entirely, the checkout explains that rather than showing a disabled button.
What happens when I change plan?Units & billing
The concurrent-bench and storage limits apply immediately. The unit allowance does not: a plan change grants no units at all, your balance stays as it is until your next renewal date, and then resets to the new plan's allowance. That is deliberate — if every move refilled the balance, moving up and down would mint free units without limit.
I forgot my password. What now?Account
There is a “Forgot your password?” link on the sign-in page. Give the address on the account and we make a single-use link that lasts 30 minutes; asking for a new one invalidates the old. One thing to know: this deployment may not have an email provider yet, and if so the message is composed in full but waits in the back office — the operator passes it on. The page tells you which of those applies once you press the button. We do not say whether the address has an account, so the form cannot be used to find out who has signed up.
What do I get for inviting a friend?Units & billing
It depends on whether whoever runs this deployment set a figure, and the Referral page shows the figures in force — including when they are zero. What always holds: your link works, a sign-up through it is attributed to your account, and if there is a reward it pays after your friend's first run finishes with a result, not when they sign up. The code is read from the link and never stored in the browser, so they have to sign up in that same visit.
I have a code. Where do I redeem it?Units & billing
On the Referral page, in the “Redeem a code” panel. One redemption per account, and the units land in your balance straight away with a ledger line naming the code. Codes are only ever issued by an operator — there is nothing to buy, because there is no checkout — so a refused code means a typo, one you already redeemed, one other people have used up, or one that expired.
My model is not watertightMesh quality
First, find out for certain. The Compare screen runs a manifold check in your own browser: it welds coincident vertices and counts how many triangles share each edge — one means an open edge, three or more means non-manifold. That is a count of the real geometry, not an estimate. Provider output often is not clean: our own benchmark had 174 non-manifold edges. For printing that usually does not matter — Bambu Studio and PrusaSlicer repair it on load. It matters if you intend to edit it in CAD. The fine pass gives cleaner meshes but guarantees nothing, and we have no free re-run.
There are too many triangles for my slicerMesh quality
Set it before the run, not after. The dock on the bench has a triangle budget — 150,000 by default — which is sent to the provider as a face limit, clamped between 1,000 and 2,000,000. This matters: our benchmark ran with no budget and came back with 1,421,850 triangles, while Bambu Studio warns about anything over a million. If a finished file is too heavy, today the route is a re-run with the budget set — we have no browser-side decimator.
Which format for Bambu Studio?Export & formats
3MF. It is the only format we write that carries units, so the model lands at the right size with no manual scaling. The “Prepare for slicer” button writes 3MF in millimetres, Z-up, centred in XY and sitting on z=0 — so it stands on the plate as it arrives.
Can the file open straight into Bambu Studio?Export & formats
Through the file association, yes: Bambu Studio registers itself as the opener for .3mf, so a downloaded file opens there on a double-click. Through a deep link, no. We tested it: Bambu Studio 02.08.02.61 registers only the `bambustudioopen:` scheme and refuses it when the caller is not MakerWorld. So we do not ship a button that would fail — we hand you the file and say what happens next.
Why are textures missing in STL?Export & formats
STL, PLY and 3MF store geometry only — there is nowhere in them to put a material. Use GLB (or USDZ for Apple Quick Look) if you need the colour and materials to travel. The export dock marks which formats are geometry-only before you download.
Can I export to FBX?Export & formats
No. We can read FBX — the converter and viewer accept it — but we cannot write it, because the three.js library we use ships no FBX writer. For Blender or Unity use GLB; both import it without a plugin.
Can I sell free-bench output?Licensing
Yes, under CC BY 4.0, as long as whoever uses it gives credit. Note the other half: free-bench output is published to the public catalogue, so anyone else may use it on the same terms, and copies already taken cannot be recalled. If you need exclusivity use a paid plan, whose output is private.
What name am I credited under?Licensing
The display name you set in Settings → Profile. Without one, a catalogue entry has no name to credit — which makes the “with credit” condition of CC BY 4.0 impossible for anyone else to meet. So if you are using the free bench, set it.
Can I take all my data out?Account
Yes. Settings → Profile → Danger zone → “Download my data” hands you a single JSON file with the account, every job, every asset and the whole ledger. The mesh files themselves download from the shelf in whichever format you choose, and the ledger exports as CSV from the account page.
How do I delete my account?Account
Settings → Profile → Danger zone → Delete account. You type DELETE and your password to confirm. What goes: the account, every job, every asset and its file on disk, the ledger, and your support tickets. It cannot be undone and we keep no copy. One thing it cannot pull back: work already published to the catalogue under CC BY 4.0 — copies people have taken stay licensed.
I forgot my passwordAccount
If you can still sign in, change it in Settings → Profile → Security. If you cannot sign in, there is no self-serve route today: we have no outbound email, so there is no reset link to send. File a ticket from this page with the account's email address and we will do it by hand. We do not like this answer either.
How do I invite teammates?Account
You cannot yet. There are no teams, no invitations and no roles — every account stands alone, on every plan. What a plan changes is the unit allowance, how many benches run at once, storage, and whether output is private.
